Hey, Not “Simple”. In any sense, this kind of works are not simple in any point of view. So this is not a factor that caters. By the way, here we know that color is an another factor but it will become silent(and allows other factors to go on their way) when it is single tone. Whatever may be the color, amount of contrast decides(aids or reduces) some of the expressions. For example, If all the sharp edged area are made to lose its contrast, then it will ‘not’ give the result of the complementry “Blurred and sharp definitions”.
Complex yet simple, amazing.
I’m still amazed how combinations of geometric objects can create something so stunning. That’s why I just love Swift 3d. just dump in all the cubes n cylinders n spheres n stuff n it looks good :)
Speaking bout expression hell yeah. I can almost ‘feel’ the picture. Nice indeed.
Eric, I think that you did these series of works before 3-4 years. How did you started doing? Just by mixing already created models or with a complete plan of architecture in mind. I guess that definitly you have two modules(2 different moods) of work. First is creating all the required piece of building blocks perfectly. The second is assembling them(rough) until it defines some emotion. I have noted this kind of works for years and also had similar experience while doing layout designs and collages. When I tried to understand how it becomes an experssion or emotion, I can feel the following factors: 1. Symmetry (and clearcut unsymmetry) 2. Distorted (and perfectly arraged objects) 3. Blurred (and very sharp definitions) 4. Perspective (and utter flat) 5. dynamic (and concrete static objects) There are many other phenomena that can be found on similar works. All these formulae are catered in your works. So it expresses dense. But I (and I think everybody) could’t explain that exactly what kind of expression(information) it throws to a human brain. Really it pushes very wide range of complimentries into our brain. But we can feel it without concious but could not ‘understand’ it easily.(Means it becomes a ‘feeling’ and not understandable in a fraction of second). The case becomes serious for those who does’t have knowldege on geomentry and graphic. Assume a simple example: A dot and a big circle placed in a plain area. Here we can understand the complementry (logical (Geometric)) and at the same time we can feel what kind of info it throws. So when a visible thing started to show numerous combinations complimentries in it(Obviously this means wide range of coverage), then it becomes unavoidable for a human brain to feel it before understanding it. That’s what we say ’stunning!’. I am curious to know your way of working.
